This week we’re viewing dramatically powerful cinematic biographies, all of which are in some way tragic. Choose one of this week’s films.* What makes the subject of this film a tragic hero? Are there mythic aspects to this hero? What does he/she have in common with the rest of us? What do we learn from his/her experience? In answering these questions (and any of your own), think about how both the actor and director bring this character to the screen. As always, choose at least two scenes to use as supporting examples for your argument. Screen shot each of them. Be specific in your analysis, and do not summarize.
