This is what a rogerian strategy is: In the introduction to a Rogerian argument, the writer presents the problem, typically pointing out how both writer and reader are affected by the problem. Rather than presenting an issue that divides reader and writer, or a thesis that demands agreement (and in effect can be seen as an attack on a reader who holds an opposing view), the Rogerian argument does not begin with the writer’s position at all.

Next, the writer describes as fairly as possible–typically in language as neutral as possible–the reader’s perceived point of view on the problem. Only if the writer can represent the reader’s perspective accurately will the reader begin to move toward compromise, and so this section of the argument is crucial to the writer’s credibility. In basketball you have to focus on the stats of how Michael Jordan has won more championships than Lebron James, yet Lebron still has years left to play basketball. You can talk about how even though Allen Iverson a point guard never won a championship, he is one of the greatest to play the point guard position and that he is a hall of famer. Championships just add to the legacy and it is a team effort. You can argue that a bench player like matthew dellavedova who won with the cavaliers is better than derrick rose just because he has a championship and rose hasn’t.

For soccer, you can talk about how great Messi is yet he hasn’t lifted a world cup trophy for his country. Even though he has multiple other forms of championships in other leagues he still hasn’t won a world cup for Argentina. Messi’s stats and individual achievement is better than Maradona too. You can talk about how ridiculously good the stats of Messi and Ronaldo are yet they haven’t won a world cup, which makes Pele and Maradona better yet it doesn’t.

You can talk about other sports too if you run out of space because it is a ten page paper.
