Complete the Final Essay Examination by responding to the following questions:

Agencies need to have policies and procedures in place to function properly. In criminal justice organizations, these policies and procedures are established to develop professional behavior, as well as mitigate civil and legal infractions.

You will address each of the following questions as they apply to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures in a criminal justice organization; either law enforcement, corrections, probation and parole, etc.

  1. Explain the importance of “knowledge utilization” as it applies to policy and procedures development in criminal justice organizations.
  2. Describe the various theories of organizational effectiveness. Explain how ethical problems can arise when measuring organizational effectiveness. How might this influence policy development?
  3. Identify the effect that organizational culture and socialization have on decision making. Should there be policies and procedures in place to address organizational culture and subcultures? Explain, and give an example.
  4. Compare and contrast process interventions and structural interventions. Give an example where each intervention can be used most effectively.
