Golden Age of gospel music

Go online and listen to early gospel music and then listen to some current gospel music. Like all music, gospel music has evolved and changed as the years go by influenced by the musicians performances and other music genres. After listening to these different artists what changes or differences do you hear between early and current gospel music? How has the performance of new gospel changed? What about the music itself? Are the instruments the same or have some been added or removed? Do you think the audience for current gospel is the same as early gospel or is there a new type of audience?
