CRITICAL ANALYSIS ESSAY 2 – Resisting Slavery and the Slave Trade

For this essay, you will write a concise and well-organized 2-page analytical paper on slavery and resistance.

ESSAY PROMPT:

Slavery was a brutal system imposed on African descendants with most enslaved Africans not being able to survive the cruelty and harshness of the system. This essay is your perspective based on the lectures, course readings, and videos that we watched in relation to slavery and the slave trade. Essay Prompt: Based on what you now know address the various ways that African descendants resisted during the slave trade and slavery. Make sure that you use concrete examples to support your discussion of their resistance.

ESSAY GUIDELINES:
Your essay must have a thesis (central argument) that you will explicitly state. It can begin with, “In this paper I argue that….” Or, “This paper argues that…….”
Throughout the essay you will incorporate concrete textual examples to support the claims that you make. You will use in-text citations for your sources.
In-text citation example: “The Process of selective assimilation, or syncretism, was hardly new.” (Egerton, 125)
Papers are to be in 12-point Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins on all sides.
