Discuss the relationship between weapons and youth violence. What measures could be taken to have a positive impact in this area?

Youth violence is the result of dysfunctional homes and families in our society. The environment, the socio-economic culture and, among other things, are the main ingredients of juvenile delinquency. The lack of a father in the home, the lack of correction of the children also has much to do. Given one of the biblical texts: “instruct the child in his way and even after he will not turn away from him” (Proverbs 22: 6). On the other hand, the bible also speaks of how parents cannot mistreat our children but correct them with love (Ephesians 6: 4) just as our God corrects us. Youth violence is always linked to drugs and weapons” (Bartollas, C., & Schmalleger, F. p 43, (2017) Juvenile Delinquency), there is a universal agreement with this outbreak of youth violence.

Violence is the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or real, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, which results in a high probability of resulting in injury, death, psychology, damage, poor development or deprivation. “(OJJDP 2014, 14). “Mortality rates for homicides of men aged 13 to 17 years tripled, mainly due to assaults with firearms.” (Bartollas, C., & Schmalleger, F. P. 43, (2017) Juvenile delinquency). “School problems, gang involvement, mental problems, family problems, sexual activity and uses and sale of drugs” (week 1 Overview, Bartollas_10e_PPT_C01). Paul tells us: “You, fathers, we do not provoke the wrath of your children; In the discipline and admonition of the Lord” (Eph 6: 4). Define our children with love.

Discipline is used to correct and guide people on the right path. It is true that discipline in the present seems to be a cause of joy, but of sadness; “(Heb 12:11). The discipline of God is loving, as it should be between father and son. The Scripture says that if a father loves his son, he corrects it when the line is crossed. A friendly father guides and teaches his children. The Bible adds that if one does not teach or teach a son, it is because he does not love him (Proverbs 13:24). Those are compelling words for parents. It is love disciplining a child because the benefits of discipline are hope, we help him make good decisions and live a long and peaceful life (Heb 12:11; Prov. 6:23).
